Dominican Laity Banner

Our Community

The brothers and sisters of the Dominican Laity Denver chapter come from various backgrounds, each with their own uniqueness and gifts.  Each contribute to the Order in a way that is their own.  Some have families others are single, however, in each case, all are devoted to the Dominican way of life.

How You Can Get Involved

Young or old, each one of us in the Dominican Laity Denver Chapter brings our special gift and talent that comes from God, making the Dominican family spiritually stronger and as diverse in experience as well as culture.  Each Dominican community throughout all the Provinces is unique, each having its strong points.  We better serve the Church and its surrounding neighborhood in countless ways.

Because we are out in our communities and neighborhoods, we are in touch with so many and their lives.   We, in effect, become the eyes and ears for the priesthood to better provide spiritual direction to the parish and community as a whole.

"Humility--recognition and acceptance of the truth that all gifts come from God--challenges us to become comfortable with our gifts and mindful of our rough edges.  Humility urges us to acknowledge our skills, talents, beauty, and life as gifts, and to accept any affirmation or appreciation of these things when it is rendered.  All of our attributes and abilities are God's gifts.

And how does the humble person respond to God's bounty?  Dominic praised and thanked God in prayer.  He also regularly prayed for what he needed.  Finally, recognizing the crying needs of other people, Dominic, like Jesus, gave us the example of humble self-giving.  Following Dominic's example, we should be mindful that all gifts should be shared because all humankind is the Body of Christ."
